Privacy Policy

Effective27 July 2026 Last updated27 July 2026 Applies toSolvent iOS app & solvent.black

Solvent asks for something most apps don't: a read-only view of your bank account. This policy explains exactly what that gives us, what we do with it, who else sees it, and how you take it back. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

01

Who we are

Solvent is operated by Lawford Limited Holdings LC LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. For the purposes of data-protection law we are the controller of the personal information described here. You can reach us at privacy@solvent.black.

Solvent is not a bank, a lender, a broker, a credit-reporting agency, or a financial adviser. We do not hold your money, move it, or advise you on it. We verify and summarise financial facts for the purpose of a social product, and nothing more.

02

What we collect

Account details Phone number, email address, date of birth, city, and the photos, prompts and other profile details you choose to provide, including any optional demographic or lifestyle information you elect to add.
Identity verification The account-holder name your bank holds, compared against your profile name. We do not collect government identification numbers, credit scores, or credit-bureau files.
Financial data Account balances and account type, and transaction history of up to 12 months, received through Plaid. Detailed in section 3.
Usage data Swipes, matches, messages, screens viewed, and crash diagnostics. Used to run and debug the product, not to build advertising profiles.
Approximate location Neighbourhood-level location, used for distance and city percentile. We do not track continuous or background location.
Purchases Subscription and purchase status for optional paid features. Payment is processed by Apple; we never receive your card details.
03

Plaid and your financial data

Solvent uses Plaid Inc. to connect to your financial institution. You enter your bank credentials inside Plaid's interface, never ours. Solvent does not receive, see, or store your banking username, password, or multi-factor codes. What we receive is a revocable access token plus the specific data scopes listed below.

By connecting an account you also agree to Plaid's own privacy policy, which governs Plaid's handling of your information as an independent controller. Access is read-only: the connection cannot be used to move, hold, withdraw, or authorise payment from your funds.

Scopes requested Purpose
balance Compute liquid worth and its city percentile band.
transactions Derive spending signals, monthly burn, an income estimate from recurring deposits, and merchant-level patterns.
identity Confirm the account belongs to you and reduce impersonation.

You can revoke the connection at any time from Settings, or through Plaid's own portal. On revocation we delete the access token immediately and delete or de-identify the underlying transaction records within 30 days, retaining only what section 7 requires.

04

How we use what we collect

Verify that a member's stated financial position is real Contract
Compute the derived figures and signals shown on profiles Consent
Rank and filter the deck, and run matching features Contract
Detect fraud, impersonation, and abuse Legitimate interest
Provide support and answer your requests Contract
Meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations Legal duty

We do not use your financial data for advertising, credit decisions, insurance decisions, employment decisions, or any automated decision producing a legal or similarly significant effect. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Not a consumer report

Solvent is not a consumer reporting agency, and nothing Solvent produces is a consumer report, an investigative consumer report, a credit score, or a credit-related assessment. We do not obtain credit-bureau files, credit scores, or credit histories, and we do not furnish information to any credit bureau. Information shown in Solvent is provided for a social product only, and may not be used by anyone — including other members — as a factor in establishing eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, tenancy, or any government benefit. Any such use is prohibited by our Terms of Service.

05

What other members see

Other members never see your statement. They see derived, rounded values and a summary of the spending signals computed from your account. Individual transaction rows, exact per-account balances, and your institution are not shown to anyone but you.

Certain published information can be limited, hidden, or removed from public view at any time from within the app. Where information has been removed, its content is not shown and cannot be determined from what remains on your profile.

Liquid worth, rounded Shown
City percentile band and verified income band Shown
Spending signals, at merchant or category level Shown
Individual transactions, dates, and counterparties Withheld
Exact balances, account names, and your institution Withheld
The content of anything you removed from public view Withheld
06

Who we share with

Plaid Inc. Financial-data connectivity. Acts as an independent controller under its own policy.
Cloud hosting US-region infrastructure and encrypted backups, under a data-processing agreement.
Apple Subscription billing and receipt validation for optional paid features.
Service providers Vendors engaged under written contract to perform functions on our behalf — hosting, content processing, error reporting, and support tooling. They may access only what their function requires and may not use it for their own purposes.
Legal & safety Disclosed when we are legally compelled, or to protect someone's safety. We review every request and object to overbroad ones.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with data brokers, advertising networks, credit bureaus, insurers, or employers.

07

How long we keep it

Plaid access token, after disconnection Immediate
Transaction records, after disconnection or deletion 30 days
Profile, photos, and matches, after deletion 30 days
Encrypted backups, rolling expiry 30 days
Safety, fraud, and legal-hold records As required
08

Security

Data is encrypted in transit with TLS and encrypted at rest by our infrastructure providers. Access tokens and derived financial records are held server-side and are never shipped inside the app. Where a value is derived from a bank secret, it is hashed with a server-side salt before storage. Internal access to production data follows least privilege and is limited to those who need it.

Our security programme is designed around, and we are working to implement in full, per-record encryption of financial data, segregated storage with audited access, single sign-on with hardware-backed multi-factor authentication, continuous vulnerability scanning, and periodic third-party penetration testing. We will describe any material change to these controls here.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the relevant regulators within the timeframes required by applicable law.

09

Your rights and controls

Access Request a machine-readable copy of what we hold. Delivered within 30 days.
Correction Fix inaccurate profile data in the app. Bank-sourced figures are corrected at the source — if your institution reports wrongly, we re-pull rather than hand-edit the number.
Deletion Delete your account from Settings, or by email. Completed within 30 days, subject to section 7.
Withdraw consent Disconnect your bank at any time. Your verified figure and derived signals come off your profile with it.
Complain Raise a concern with us first, and with your local data-protection authority if we don't resolve it.

We never charge for exercising a right, and we never degrade your experience for using one. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that already happened lawfully, and it does not remove what other members already saw.

California and EEA members

California. Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA you may request to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to limit use of sensitive personal information. Financial account data is treated as sensitive personal information and is used only for the purposes described in section 4. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and you will not be discriminated against for exercising a right.

EEA and UK. Our legal bases are set out in section 4. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Data is processed in the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses where required. You may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

11

Children

Solvent is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor we delete it and its financial data immediately. Report a suspected minor account to support@solvent.black.

12

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change — a new data category, a new purpose, a new recipient — we will notify you in the app and by email at least 14 days before it takes effect, and where the law requires it we will ask for fresh consent. Non-material edits are published here with an updated date.
